My entry for the Tumblr Talent Show

Things that ended up being very fortuitous in the creation of this clip:

  1. The moment I envisioned a juggling-oriented clip (inspired by nicky36’s entry) I thought of the song from the World of Goo soundtrack. I didn’t remember until the point where I had to go and drag the song onto the (by then finished) clips assortment that the song was called Tumbler. Funny.
  2. The song melody lent itself perfectly for many of the segues in the video as well as the nature of the clips as timed to the song. I was especially shocked by the utterly perfect timing of the song quieting down at the precise same moment the video switches to me lying on my bed, bored.
  3. I was just putting the last touches on the video together when I noticed that I had about 1:50 worth of footage in there, and the Tumbler song is 1:52 minutes long.
  4. I managed to do one shot of footage from start to finish in which I go through all my moves without dropping the ball. However, that clip is boring as hell to watch, hence it’s chopped to bits and interspersed with “story” elements.

Things that weren’t quite so fortuitous:

  1. Photo Booth mirrors video footage. iMovie’s built-in camera record tool does not. And iMovie does not seem to have a “flip clip horizontally” feature. D’oh!

All in all, three-or-so hours well spent, I’d say.
